Amazon India is my favourite shopping website. I have been buying my regular monthly groceries, FMCG goods and other daily use household stuff from Amazon since the last couple of years. Following are some of the Amazon offers / categories / hacks / features / concepts that use to maximise my Amazon discounts and cashbacks.
1) Amazon Super Value Day offer
Amazon Super Value Day offer is my favourite for groceries, FMCG goods, daily use household products and personal use products. The Super Value Day offer is applicable on the 1st and 2nd of every month. The benefits (cashbacks) of this offer are applicable on all Amazon Pantry products, including Patanjali products. It is also applicable on other groceries and daily use household products, which may not be a part of Amazon Pantry. The product page mentions whether the product qualifies or not for Super Value Day offer.
During the Super Value Day offer, I usually get benefits of 35% - 50% as follows:
a) Discounts on individual products: Amazon offers individual product discounts on most products which ranges from 1% to all the way up to 50% in case of some products. If I take the average discount applicable on the entire order, then this is in the range of 10% to 15% based on my past experience.
b) Amazon Pay cashback: Amazon gives 20% cashback in the form of Amazon Pay for orders of Rs. 4000 and above and payment made through ICICI bank debit card or credit card or net banking. The maximum cashback is Rs. 1200. If the order value is between Rs. 1500 - Rs. 4000, then the cashback applicable is 15% when paid through an ICICI Bank debit card or credit card or net banking.
c) CashKaro cashback: When I place my Amazon groceries and daily use household product orders through CashKaro, then I get additional cashback in the range of 4% to 6%. To know more about CashKaro click here.
I placed my latest order on August 1st 2018. The order value was Rs. 4051 (net amount after individual product discounts). I got benefits of Rs. 1858 (or 40%) as follows:
a) Direct discount of Rs. 601 on individual products
b) 20% Amazon Pay cashback of Rs. 810
c) CashKaro cashback of Rs. 247 and
d) Prime Day Offer cashback of Rs. 200
As I have mentioned earlier, during the Super Value Day offer, I usually get benefits of 35% - 50%. So it is always a good idea to plan your monthly grocery and daily use household goods shopping and avail the maximum benefit of Amazon Super Value Day offer. To know more about Amazon Super Value Day offer click here. Please check the latest terms and conditions of the offer on the Amazon website before availing the offer.
I place my order of above Rs. 4000 under the Amazon Super Value Day offer on the 1st of every month. By the 5th of the month, I get 20% Amazon Pay cashback of more than Rs. 800 for this order. I use this cashback to make my utility bill payments on Amazon.
2) Cashbacks on utility bill payments
Amazon is providing utility bill payment services. These include prepaid and postpaid mobile bill payment, DTH recharge, electricity bill payment, broadband bill payment, gas bill payment, landline bill payment etc. I use the Amazon Pay balance received from the Super Value Day offer (applicable on the 1st and 2nd of the month) to make these payments. I also get additional cashbacks for making these bill payments. To know about the latest Amazon cashback offers on bill payments click here.
So with some planning, you can use the Amazon Pay cashback that you get every month from Super Value Day offer (cashback by the 5th of every month) for making utility bill payments (after the 5th of every month).
3) Coupons
Amazon provides extra discounts on individual products through coupons. So before placing your Super Value Day offer, spend some time on the coupons page / section and check if the product/s in your shopping list are there on the coupons page.
For example, it may happen that your shopping list has a 1 kg tea packet which is not there on the coupons page. But the 500 grams tea packet of the same brand may be there on the coupons page. So you may choose to buy the 2 packets of 500 grams each instead of 1 kg packet to benefit from the additional coupon discount. With coupons you can increase the additional benefit (in the form of discounts) that you may get on the overall order.
To check the latest coupons visit the Amazon coupons page.
4) Auto re-load feature: Using this feature, you can load your Amazon Pay wallet with a certain auto re-load amount (example Rs. 1000) whenever the balance in your Amazon Pay wallet falls below a set minimum balance (example Rs. 500).
So in the above example, whenever your Amazon Pay wallet balance will fall below Rs. 500 (set minimum balance), it will be auto-reloaded with Rs. 1000 by charging the amount to your credit card.
The auto re-load is yet another good feature that you can use to increase your overall benefits on your Amazon orders. As on today (August 2018), Amazon has a cashback promotion going on for Amazon Prime members who set up the Auto Reload feature by 22nd August 2018. Members who set up Auto Reload for Rs. 1000 or more, as per the promotion offer, will get cashback of Rs. 75 for next 5 loads till November 2018. The maximum cashback under this offer is Rs. 375 (Rs. 75 per auto reload X 5 auto reloads). You can opt out of the Auto Re-load feature at any time. For the latest promotion on this feature check the Amazon website or check the Amazon features page on my website.
How do I benefit from Auto Re-load promotion: I had to pay my electricity bill of around Rs. 750. The balance in my Amazon Pay wallet was a little more than Rs. 750. Amazon was offering a 10% cashback up to a maximum of Rs. 75 on electricity bill payment. I paid the bill and got the 10% cashback of Rs. 75. After the bill payment, the balance in my Amazon Pay wallet fell below the set minimum balance of Rs. 500. As per the Auto Re-load feature, my wallet got loaded with Rs. 1000 and as per the promotion offer, I got a cashback of Rs. 75. So on an electricity bill payment of little more than Rs. 750, I got cashback of total 20% or Rs. 150 (Rs. 75 for bill payment and Rs. 75 for Auto Re-load).
Similarly, you can also benefit from the Auto Re-load promotion cashback for making bill payments or paying for Amazon Pantry orders or any other Amazon orders. For that you have to set-up the Auto Re-load feature in your account on the Amazon website. It is highly recommended that you avail this feature.
5) Cashback for prepaid payment options: Amazon comes up with cashback offers for prepaid payments from time to time. The most common that I have seen is Rs. 50 cashback on prepaid orders of Rs. 250 and above. I have availed the additional cashback of Rs. 50 a couple of times as all my orders are prepaid. Be on the lookout for such offers. They increase the overall benefit that you get from orders.
6) Cashback for loading money in wallet: Amazon comes up with cashback offers for loading money in your Amazon Pay wallet from time to time. The latest offer was on Prime Day (16th and 17th July 2018) when Amazon was giving 10% cashback for loading money in the Amazon Pay wallet subject to a maximum of Rs. 300.
Needless to say that I grabbed the offer. I was more than happy to load Rs. 3000 in my wallet and get the maximum cashback of Rs. 300. I used the Amazon Pay balance for my Amazon Pantry orders and utility bill payments. Be on the lookout for such offers. They increase the overall benefit that you get from orders. So whenever you see the next cashback offer for loading money in your wallet, just go for it. I say this because you will never run out of options for using Amazon Pay.
7) Prime membership benefits: You should go for Prime membership. The investment of Rs. 999 / year is worth going for considering the tremendous benefits you will get from it. These benefits include free delivery of orders, access to movies and other videos on Prime Video, access to millions of songs on Prime Music etc. Apart from these benefits, these days most of the shopping offers that Amazon brings are for Prime members.
If you wish to get Amazon Prime membership for free or at concessional rates, then Amazon currently has tie-ups with Vodafone and Airtel. Under certain Vodafone RED plans, Amazon Prime membership is being offered for free and under certain Airtel plans, Amazon Prime membership is being offered at concessional rates. If you are still not a Prime member, then just go for it.
8) Prime Day offers: Amazon comes up with Prime Day every year in which there are offers exclusively for Prime members only. The last Prime Day was on 16th and 17th July 2018 for 36 hours. During these 36 hours, Prime members were given lot of discounts, cashbacks, new products were launched etc. This is the biggest extravaganza event for Prime Members wherein they are made feel special and showered with exclusive offers by Amazon. So watch out for the next Prime Day event.
Prime Day offer for Amazon Pantry customers: During the July 2018 Prime Day event, for Amazon Pantry customers, Amazon came up with an excellent offer. Prime members who shopped during the Prime Day on Amazon Pantry for Rs. 1000 will get the benefit of Prime Day offer for 1 full year. Under this offer, Prime members will get Rs. 200 cashback on Amazon Pantry orders of Rs. 1000 and above, for the next 12 months.
The cashback will be for one order per month on applying a promo code. So that is assured benefits of Rs. 2400 over 1 year. This cashback of Rs. 200 is over and above all other offers applicable. Needless to say, I availed that offer and will be enjoying the benefits of it for the next 12 months. So watch out for such offers during Prime Day and other events like big sale days / offers and make the most of them.
9) Prime member specific offers: As I have mentioned above, these days, most of the offers that Amazon brings are for Prime members. Some of these include Auto Re-load feature cashback, cashback on regular Amazon Pantry orders, free e-books, hardcopy books at concessional rates as compared to other members, additional cashbacks over and above those applicable to all members when you use Amazon Pay on 3rd party websites etc. So once again I repeat, the annual investment of Rs. 999 for Prime membership is worth going for to enjoy the many benefits of it.
10) Promocodes: Amazon comes up with promocodes from time to time. You can get extra discounts / cashbacks on applying these promocodes. Watch out for these promocodes to increase the benefits on your orders. Some of the Amazon partners / sellers come up with their own promocodes which are applicable when you purchase the products of these sellers. These promocodes give you additional discounts over and above other discounts / cashbacks.
You can find these promocodes in the “Special offers and product promotions” section of the product page. So be on the lookout for these promocodes.
11) Subscribe and Save feature: This is yet another good feature which can help you get extra discount when you take subscription of products that you need regularly every month. Along with the additional discounts, you get regular supply of these products with free shipping. This feature is good for baby products like diapers, baby foods, breakfast items like cornflakes or oats, detergents, toiletries etc. and many more items. So make the most of this feature.
12) Amazon Pay benefits on 3rd party websites: Amazon Pay is a good, convenient and secure payment option on 3rd parties websites. Along with these features it comes with very good cashback offers. By paying through Amazon Pay, you can get cashback on 3rd party websites for booking movie tickets, flight tickets, airline tickets, ordering food, medicines etc. So make the most of these offers.
14) EMI offers: To make your shopping more manageable when the product to be bought is expensive and out of budget, Amazon offers you the EMI option. For this facility, Amazon has tie-ups with various banks for providing the EMI option on credit cards. Some of these EMI options are interest free.
15) EMI on debit cards: This is yet another interesting option that Amazon is offering to make your shopping more convenient. The number of credit cards in our country are very low as compared to debit cards. So recently, Amazon has started offering the option of EMI on debit cards. To start with, this option is being offered on the debit cards of selective banks and maybe later be expanded to debit cards of more banks.
Conclusion
